CCMF Executive Director Ken Pulskamp kicked off the 2015 MMASC Conference with an energetic session titled “ELEVATE Your Motivation.” His words were a perfect segue into the opening Keynote from Connie Merritt, who shared her advice on maintaining a passion/spark.

On the second day of the MMASC Conference, CCMF Vice President and Santa Clarita City Manager Ken Striplin, Menifee City Manager Rob Johnson, and Santa Rosa City Manager Sean McGlynn led a well-received session titled “City Managers Spill the Beans: The Stuff You Don’t Know Until You’re There.” The trio of city managers shared their insights on various aspects of city management that aren’t always discussed, such as:

  • balancing personal opinions and visions with that of governing boards,
  • using tactful communication strategies to prevent politics from interfering with administrative operations,
  • portraying confidence during times of uncertainty, and
  • identifying opportunities to elevate their professional development

See below for some kind words from MMASC Conference attendees about that session.

Many thanks again to California City Management Foundation Vice President Ken Striplin (City Manager, Santa Clarita),…
