ICMA 2016 Conference

The California City Management Foundation (CCMF), Municipal Management Association of Northern California (MMANC) and Municipal Management Association of Southern California (MMASC) combined to offer two (2) $1,500 scholarships for the 2016 ICMA Annual Conference. The two winners are Melissa Mudgett and Kimberly Castro!

Melissa is the Assistant Parks and Recreation Director for the City of San Luis Obispo. She has 17 years’ experience working in local government, is a member of MMASC, and is a CGL program graduate. This will be her first time attending the ICMA Conference.

Kimberly is the Recreation Manager for the City of Santa Clara. She has 10 years’ experience working in local government, is a member of MMANC and ICMA, and is a CGL program graduate. This will also be her first time attending the ICMA Conference.

This year’s scholarships — one (1) $1500 award each to an MMASC and an MMANC member — will help Melissa and Kimberly attend the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Annual Conference, September 25-28, 2016 in Kansas City, Missouri. The $1,500 awards, jointly sponsored by CCMF, MMANC and MMASC, may be used toward travel, lodging and incidental expenses. ICMA-RC will cover the cost of conference registration for the two scholarship awardees.

All scholarship applicants had to demonstrate how a scholarship to attend the ICMA annual Conference would support their professional development goals. Melissa felt the ICMA Conference would provide her “a unique opportunity for community collaboration and the strengthening of partnerships.” Kimberly expressed her interest in attending the Conference “to refine my networks, skills and knowledge to pursue my career goal [of becoming] a Director of Parks and Recreation/Community Services.”

On behalf of us here at CCMF, congratulations to Melissa and Kimberly!
