CCMF Executive Director Ken Pulskamp will be speaking on a breakout session panel at the upcoming League of California Cities Annual Conference. The panel is titled “Making the Marriage Work: Effective Relationships from Engagement to Separation,” and will take place on Thursday, September 4, at 4:15.
Pulskamp has over 35 years of experience in local government administration, and worked as City Manager in Santa Clarita for 10 years. He was awarded the “City Manager Award for the Advancement of Diverse Communities” from the League of California Cities in 2007. In 2011, Ken won the inaugural Wes McClure award from the League, honoring a city manager for leadership, transparency and creativity.
Speaking with Mr. Pulskamp will be Sam Racadio (Mayor of Highland) and Roderick Wood (Retired City Manager). The session will be presided over by Cathy Standiford, a Partner with Management Partners, Inc., and will focus on on how to recruit the perfect manager for your city, as well as strategies for ensuring good communication and top quality service. Other topics include succession planning and, should it become necessary, how to arrange for an amicable separation. Even happy marriages can benefit from wise counsel.
We hope you will join us for what is sure to be a lively and interesting discussion. For more information on the schedule of events for the League Annual Conference, click here.
