Each year, the California City Management Foundation (CCMF) looks forward to presenting two awards during the League of California Cities City Managers Conference:
- The “City Manager of the Year” Award recognizes a city manager who has gone beyond the call of duty to lead and serve their community.
- The “Corporate Sponsor of the Year” Award goes to a partner that has been particularly helpful to CCMF members.
CCMF President Ken Striplin announced this year’s winners at the 2023 City Managers Conference in Carlsbad. The awards were presented during CCMF’s Annual Member Appreciation Dinner, which took place on Thursday February 9.
2023 City Manager of the Year – Howard Chan
CCMF gives its “City Manager of the Year” Award to a city manager who provides exemplary leadership while delivering on important community initiatives. This year’s recipient has demonstrated extraordinary resilience,
continuing to serve the best interests of constituents, despite facing targeted attacks and violent protests at his home. This year’s winner has shown a unique ability to forge onward in the face of adversity, and has gained the trust and respect of city managers across the state. Despite ample responsibility on his shoulders, he has continuously offered practical advice and support to fellow city leaders to improve government transparency and facilitate resident engagement. This year, CCMF is honoring City Manager of Sacramento, Howard Chan!
2023 Corporate Sponsor of the Year – Climatec
The CCMF “Corporate Sponsor of the Year” Award goes to a CCMF partner that has been particularly helpful to our members over the past year. This year’s winner went above and beyond to assist with the advancement of CCMF’s events, resources and services. In particular, the selected organization volunteered to host the 21st CCMF Golf Tournament, which took place on Friday February 10, 2023.
