The California City Management Foundation (CCMF) will host two panel discussions at the 2023 League of California Cities Annual Conference in Sacramento. The first session, “One City, One Team – Establishing Effective City Manager-Council Relations,” will take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, from 1:00-2:15 p.m. The panel will focus on establishing productive relationships between the city council and the city manager, and attendees will learn about how these relationships can yield significant results for the organization and the community.

CCMF Board Member and former Malibu City Manager Reva Feldman will moderate the discussion. Panelists will include:

  • Rachelle Arizmendi, Former Councilmember, City of Sierra Madre
  • Aaron Adams, City Manager, City of Temecula
  • Patricia Lock-Dawson, Mayor, City of Riverside

The second session, “Hiring Future Local Leaders: How to Attract Top Talent,” will also take place on Thursday, September 21, 2023, but from 4:00-5:15 p.m. This session centers on exploring the most effective recruitment strategies that cities can use to attract and retain top talent.

CCMF Board Member and El Cerrito City Manager Karen Pinkos will moderate the discussion. Panelists will include:

  • Valerie Phillips, President & Executive Recruiter, Bob Murray & Associates
  • Cathy Thompson, Executive Recruiter, Tripepi Smith Talent Solutions
