The California City Management Foundation (CCMF) will host two panel discussions at the 2024 League of California Cities City Managers Conference in West Hollywood. The first session, “Protecting the Profession” will take place on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 3:45-5:00 p.m. 

 Fran Robustelli, City Manager of San Leandro, will moderate the discussion. Panelists will include:

  • Ken Domer, City Manager, City of LaVerne
  • John Donlevy, Retired City Manager, City of Auburn
  • Christa Johnson, Town Manager, Town of Ross

This panel addresses the rising challenges city managers face personally and professionally. It offers insights and proactive strategies to prevent attacks and effectively manage these challenges.

The second session, “Who are we? A Profile of the Profession,” was chosen as the closing session of the conference and will take place on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 10:45 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Ken Striplin, CCMF President and City Manager of Santa Clarita, will moderate the session. Panelists will include: 

  • Karen Pinkos, CCMF Board Member and City Manager of El Cerrito
  • Bipasa Nadon, Assistant Director for Research and Publications, Rose Institute of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College

This panel will present the results of the “2023 California City Manager Survey: A Profile of the Profession” report that CCMF and the Rose Institute of State and Local Government at Claremont McKenna College developed to provide a comprehensive overview of city managers in California. CCMF commissioned this survey to develop a profile of the profession and identify needs for continued development.
